About Checkers
Checkers (draughts) has been played for over 5,000 years, and the 8×8 version was famously "weakly solved" in 2007 — perfect play draws. Capture every enemy piece by jumping diagonally, crown your kings, and control the board.
How to Play Checkers
- 1Tap one of your pieces to see its legal moves highlighted.
- 2Pieces slide one square diagonally forward; capture by jumping over an adjacent enemy.
- 3Multi-jumps chain automatically when available.
- 4Reach the far row to crown a king, which can move and capture backwards.
- 5Win by capturing all enemy pieces or leaving the CPU no legal move.
Tips & Strategy
- ◆Keep your back row intact early — it denies the CPU easy kings.
- ◆Trade pieces when ahead; simplification magnifies a material lead.
- ◆Advance in phalanxes (diagonally supporting pairs) so captures always cost the CPU a piece.
- ◆A single king dominates an endgame; race for the crown the moment lanes open.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are captures mandatory?
When a capture is available it takes priority, matching tournament draughts rules and making sacrifice tactics possible.
How strong is the CPU?
It looks ahead with a positional evaluation favouring captures, king-making and safe structure — beatable, but it punishes blunders.
What does a king do?
Kings move and capture diagonally in all four directions, roughly tripling a piece's power.
