Chess needs no introduction — the 1,500-year-old royal game remains the deepest widely played strategy game on Earth. This implementation enforces every rule: castling, en passant, promotion, check, checkmate and stalemate — against a minimax CPU.
How to Play Chess
- 1You command White. Tap a piece to highlight its legal moves, then tap a destination.
- 2Illegal moves (including those leaving your king in check) are simply not offered.
- 3Pawns promote automatically to queens on the last rank.
- 4Checkmate the black king to win; stalemate is a draw.
Tips & Strategy
- ◆Develop knights and bishops before moving the same piece twice.
- ◆Castle early — an uncastled king in the centre is the CPU's favourite target.
- ◆Control the four central squares; pieces posted there reach the whole board.
- ◆Before every move ask: what did the CPU's last move threaten?
- ◆Trade pieces when ahead in material, pawns when behind.

Yes — full FIDE movement rules are implemented, including both castling sides, en passant captures and automatic queen promotion.

It searches a few plies deep with material and positional evaluation — roughly a club-beginner strength that punishes hung pieces immediately.

Your material advantage in points (pawn=1, knight/bishop=3, rook=5, queen=9), a standard way to track who is winning.
