About Ludo
Ludo descends from Pachisi, the "royal game of India" played since the 6th century. Race four tokens around the cross-shaped board, capture rivals, and bring everyone home on exact rolls — solo against CPUs or pass-and-play with up to four players on one device.
How to Play Ludo
- 1Choose each seat as Human, CPU or Off on the setup screen (2-4 players).
- 2On your turn, tap your glowing die to roll.
- 3Roll a 6 to move a token out of your base onto your start square.
- 4Tap a highlighted token to move it the rolled amount.
- 5Land on a rival token (off the ★ safe squares) to send it back to base.
- 6A 6, a capture, or getting a token home earns an extra roll. Exact rolls finish tokens; first to bring all four home wins.
Tips & Strategy
- ◆Spread your tokens — one runner is easily hunted, four threats are not.
- ◆Park on ★ safe squares when rivals trail within six squares of you.
- ◆Capturing is usually worth more than advancing — it costs the rival a full lap.
- ◆Hold a token in base until mid-game as insurance against a bad capture.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does local multiplayer work?
Pass-and-play: each human player rolls their own die on their turn from their corner of the board — perfect for two to four people sharing one phone or screen.
Do I need an exact roll to finish?
Yes — a token enters home only on the exact count, matching classic Ludo rules and creating tense endgames.
What are the star squares?
Safe squares where tokens cannot be captured — the eight of them form the strategic resting points of the board.
